Operations Director Meetings & Events – Spain & Italy

About the role

Amex GBT, a global creative events agency, is looking for an Operations Director for its meetings and events business in Spain and Italy. The role connects regional teams with global standards and best practices, acts as a strategic communicator and reputation ambassador for the Spain/Italy market leads, and ensures high-quality event delivery, strong team performance and operational excellence at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Drive operational excellence, ensure consistent high-quality event delivery, manage P&L, optimize processes and maintain compliance across both countries
• Coach and develop Team Leaders and foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
• Lead transformation initiatives such as process harmonization, new tools and AI adoption, and drive organizational change to improve efficiency and operational maturity
• Serve as senior escalation point for major clients, ensuring delivery meets expectations and acting as a trusted creative advisor and strategic partner
• Act as agency ambassador in Spanish and Italian markets, building relationships with media, industry associations, influencers and thought leaders
• Partner with cross-functional teams and international peers to align on global standards and multi-market project delivery

Required profile

• 10+ years in event agency operations or production
• Proven experience managing large, multi-layered teams across multiple countries
• Strong stakeholder management and external communication skills
• Strong leader in the event and communication industry, with an existing network
• Fluent Spanish, English and Italian is a plus
