Payroll & Ops Trainee

About the role

seQura, a Barcelona-based fintech offering payment technology to merchants, is looking for a Payroll Trainee to join its People Operations team. Working closely with the Payroll Specialist and the wider team, you will gain hands-on exposure to the full payroll cycle, Spanish labour administration and the company's HR and payroll systems, gradually taking on more responsibility. The role is based in Barcelona under a hybrid model of three days in the office and two days from home.

Key responsibilities

• Support the monthly payroll process, including preparing, validating and reviewing payroll inputs and documentation
• Maintain employee and payroll information across systems and document changes accurately
• Help manage the payroll and administrative side of hires, contract changes, leaves, absences and terminations
• Support Social Security and other payroll-related administrative processes
• Run payroll checks and reconciliations, identify discrepancies and help resolve them
• Maintain payroll documentation, trackers and internal controls
• Respond to payroll-related questions and collaborate with People Operations, Finance and external partners
• Contribute ideas to improve and automate payroll processes

Required profile

• Early-career candidate interested in Payroll and People Operations
• Studied or currently studying Labour Relations, Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field
• Comfortable with numbers, spreadsheets and detailed information, and pays attention to accuracy
• Organised, proactive, curious and able to handle confidential information responsibly
• Professional Spanish and a good level of English
• Previous payroll or HR administration experience is welcome but not required
