People Specialist – Spain

About the role

The People Specialist will join Mastercard’s Western European HR team, reporting to the People Business Partner Director. Based in Spain, you will help create a seamless, high‑quality employee experience across the full lifecycle, from onboarding to off‑boarding, while ensuring compliance with Spanish labour laws.

Key responsibilities

• Support employee lifecycle activities, guaranteeing smooth and compliant processes for employees and managers.
• Deliver local People initiatives such as engagement programs, rewards, training, onboarding and HR operations.
• Collaborate with Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Employee Relations, Legal and other partners to ensure accurate and timely delivery of HR services.
• Prepare, review and maintain employment‑related documentation in line with company policies and Spanish regulations.
• Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers, providing confidential advice on day‑to‑day HR matters.
• Build cross‑functional relationships to anticipate needs, resolve issues and improve HR support.
• Use reporting and analytics to monitor HR metrics, identify trends and support data‑driven decisions for the Spain population.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and employee satisfaction.
• Contribute to local culture, engagement, volunteering and Employee Resource Group activities.

Required profile

• Solid experience in HR, People Operations or a related field.
• Strong understanding of the employee lifecycle and HR best practices.
• Knowledge of Spanish employment law and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement and ability to handle confidential information.
• Proactive attitude with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
