Principal Digital & Data Performance Excellence Lead

About the role

Roche is looking for a Principal Digital & Data Performance Excellence Lead to join its internal advisory and delivery team within PT Digital and Operational Excellence (PTE). The role acts as a hands-on internal consultant and delivery lead, bridging digital strategy, advanced analytics, technical execution and operational reality, and leads high-stakes transformation initiatives across Pharma Technical Operations (PT) using a structured methodology.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and implement the scoping, delivery and value realization of high-impact digital initiatives, with direct technical execution and alignment with executives, site leaders and operations roadmaps.
• Lead the technical scoping and deployment of complex data governance, operational AI/ML models, Agentic AI initiatives and shopfloor automation into daily manufacturing routines.
• Use hypothesis-driven diagnostics and quantitative metrics (yield, cycle time, data integrity) to build business cases and track value.
• Partner with OCM leads to design adoption strategies and with Principal OCM and Program Leads to align technical iterations with user analytics and governance roadmaps.
• Ensure digital and data interventions comply with GxP, Data Integrity and regulations such as the EU AI Act and Annex 11.
• Drive initiatives from pilot to scalable, operations-wide digital products across the global network.
• Coach site process owners and teams in Agile, Lean and Design Thinking, and systematize methodologies and digital blueprints across the network.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Life Sciences or a related field (Master's or equivalent preferred).
• 8+ years leading digital, data or operational excellence transformations in complex, matrixed environments.
• 5+ years in pharmaceutical operations, biotechnology, healthcare IT or highly regulated GxP process industries.
• Proven experience in Change Management and stakeholder coaching, and a track record of driving change in matrixed organizations.

Required skills

• Data architecture, AI/ML operational applications and shopfloor automation.
• Digital adoption platforms such as WalkMe and Pendo.
• Lean/Six Sigma, Agile, SAFe, Design Thinking and Organizational Change Management (e.g. Prosci).
• Ability to define and deliver financial and operational value (EBITDA impact, yield increase, COGS reduction).
