Procurement Commodity Manager - Flight Controls

About the role

A vacancy has opened in the Commodity Managers line of strategic procurement at Airbus Defence and Space, within the Flight Controls Commodity covering all ADS platforms. The postholder develops structural relationships with established worldwide suppliers and manages complex work packages, working with the Multifunctional Teams of the domain to secure the lines and enable value-for-money proposals.

Key responsibilities

• Establish, implement and monitor a commodity strategy for the assigned perimeter, including market, technology, tendering, negotiations and long-term contracts.
• Manage supplier relationships and supplier-related development programs, and lead supplier evaluation and vendor management.
• Lead the (sub-)commodity multi-functional team and drive bids, tenders and supplier selection to conclusion.
• Contribute to procurement and value creation projects aimed at synergies and savings.
• Negotiate with suppliers to meet program expectations and set up, negotiate and manage contractual agreements, including exiting and new contracts.
• Develop a working knowledge of cost drivers, global pricing, market trends and material lead times.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Business Management or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in procurement, engineering services and project/program management.
• Experience in a matrix environment with a proven record of stakeholder management.
• Excellent negotiation skills and strong relationship-building and conflict-management abilities.
• Ability to anticipate, assess and mitigate risks.

Required skills

• Negotiation level of English.
• SAP knowledge is an asset.

The position is permanent, based in Getafe, and has high visibility across procurement, PMO, services, quality, supply chain and engineering. Flexible working arrangements are offered wherever possible.
