Propulsion Design Engineer

About the role

PLD Space is looking for a Propulsion Design Engineer to develop advanced engine systems for its launch vehicles and spacecraft. You will play a key role in ensuring engine performance, reliability, and efficiency, directly contributing to successful space missions.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in system design and architecture of liquid rocket engines, from concept to detailed design.
• Create 2D drawings and provide design support for production and assembly.
• Design main engine components such as the combustion chamber and turbopump, as well as support structures, fluid systems, and other subsystems.
• Conduct trade studies and evaluate propulsion configurations and technologies.
• Collaborate with structures, manufacturing, quality, and other engineering departments.
• Optimize designs to meet schedule, quality, and cost targets through continuous improvement.
• Define materials, select standard parts, and generate Bills of Materials for production.
• Work with suppliers to procure propulsion components while ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
• Support manufacturing and assembly, providing technical guidance and resolving design issues.

• Ability to perform trade studies and make data‑driven design decisions.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross‑functional engineering teams.
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement and cost optimisation.
