Purchasing Manager – Procurement Lead for Agricultural Products

About the role

We are a fast‑growing startup within an international trading group, expanding in Spain with new offices in Barcelona and Valencia. We seek a proactive Purchasing Manager to design and run our procurement processes for agricultural raw materials, especially olives and olive oil, in an international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate pricing, volumes and supply terms with local producers and suppliers; align product specifications and finalize contracts and framework agreements.
• Coordinate shipments with logistics partners, monitor timelines and volumes, and prepare supporting documentation together with the back‑office team.
• Organise and conduct on‑site quality inspections, collect samples, liaise with laboratories and ensure products meet agreed standards.
• Provide market insights, identify risks and opportunities, and support procurement and production planning across the business.

Required profile

• Higher education in agriculture, food industry, logistics or economics.
• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience for agricultural products or raw materials in Spain.
• Hands‑on experience negotiating with local producers, working with farmers or processing companies; experience with olives/olive oil is a strong advantage.
• Fluent Spanish (C1‑C2) and English (C1‑C2).

Required skills

• Knowledge of legal principles governing international trade.
• Basic knowledge of quality standards for olives and olive oil.
• Strong negotiation capability and ability to work independently in the field.
