Purchasing Specialist – Organic Baby Food

About the role

We are seeking a Purchasing Specialist with experience in the food sector, preferably organic or baby‑food, to join our Madrid team. As a member of the Supply Chain department you will ensure the smooth flow of raw materials, finished goods and packaging, working closely with Production, Logistics and Sales to support Smileat’s rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage purchasing of raw materials, finished products and auxiliary items (packaging, labels, etc.) while guaranteeing quality and supply continuity.
• Monitor stock and inventory across warehouses and suppliers, calculate safety stock, optimise minimum order quantities and manage lead times.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules and long‑term agreements; evaluate and select suppliers to balance cost, quality and service.
• Coordinate with Production, Sales and Logistics to align purchasing plans with demand forecasts and actively participate in S&OP processes.
• Control product shelf‑life and stock rotation (FIFO), critical for organic and baby‑food products.
• Proactively resolve supplier incidents related to delays, quality issues or commercial terms.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of purchasing experience, ideally within the food industry.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and hands‑on experience with ERP systems such as Oracle NetSuite or Delsys.
• Fluent English (C1) for regular interaction with international suppliers.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to use purchasing and inventory data to drive improvements.
• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for business purposes.
