R&D Packaging Solutions Specialist (d/f/m)

About the role

AIMPLAS is recruiting a Packaging Solutions Specialist (d/f/m) for its Packaging Department in Valencia. The role covers preparing and running R&D&I projects, technological services such as analysis and testing and technical advisory, and technical training for companies in the plastics and packaging sector.

Key responsibilities

• Develop packaging demonstrators and semi-finished products using conventional plastic processing equipment.
• Take part in projects as a team member or Principal Investigator, coordinating work within the Packaging field.
• Identify project ideas from inside the company or proposed by clients, and prepare technical service proposals and reports.
• Keep equipment running properly, including preventive and corrective maintenance and internal calibrations, and select new equipment and accessories.
• Select materials and additives for thermoplastic compounds.
• Take part in scientific dissemination, technology scouting, trade fairs and sector events, and write technical-commercial articles.
• Advise companies on environmental legislation and regulations affecting the plastics and packaging sector, and liaise directly with clients.

Required profile

• University degree and a Master's degree, preferably a PhD in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• A specialized Master's in plastic materials and processing technologies is an asset.
• High-level English and Spanish.
• Analytical, organized, proactive, creative and flexible, with leadership, teamwork and customer orientation.

Required skills

• Desirable: experience processing plastics by extrusion and/or injection.
• Desirable: knowledge of packaging and of characterization techniques such as FTIR, DSC, TGA, optical and electron microscopy, and mechanical and thermal properties.
• Desirable: experience preparing R&D&I projects under national and European public funding programmes.
