Robotics Applications Engineer

About the role

Join ABB's Robotics business as a Robotics Applications Engineer within the Sevensense by ABB unit. You will act as the bridge between product development and real‑world deployments, working closely with project, support and R&D teams in Barcelona and Zurich.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance and troubleshooting during integration, commissioning and operation of deployed robotic systems.
• Investigate complex field issues, perform root‑cause analysis and collaborate with R&D to deliver scalable solutions.
• Develop tools, processes and software adaptations that improve diagnostics, product integration and support efficiency.
• Collect and analyse field feedback to identify product gaps, enhance system performance and influence future product development.
• Work hands‑on with robotic platforms to develop and validate new features, reproduce field issues and verify fixes.

Required profile

• 3+ years of industrial experience in robotics, autonomous systems, systems engineering, applications engineering or technical support.
• Strong initiative, ownership and ability to work autonomously within a collaborative team.
• Excellent analytical skills and a problem‑solving mindset.

Required skills

• Python programming and debugging.
• Linux‑based systems and networking fundamentals.
• Robotics concepts such as localization, mapping, navigation and perception.
