SAP Development Manager – Sales & Distribution

About the role

The SAP Development Manager – Sales & Distribution leads the Barcelona‑based SAP SD development team, supporting Werfen’s commercial, customer service, logistics, and order‑to‑cash processes. This role blends people leadership, deep SAP functional expertise, and technical solution governance to drive modern, upgrade‑friendly SAP solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the SAP SD development team, balancing workload, planning deliveries, coaching staff and handling performance management.
• Ensure high‑quality support and project delivery for commercial, customer service, logistics and order‑to‑cash processes.
• Partner with business stakeholders and IT partners to design scalable, maintainable SAP SD solutions aligned with business priorities.
• Govern Werfen’s Clean Core strategy by promoting standard SAP functionality, upgrade‑friendly enhancements and reducing unnecessary custom code.
• Review existing custom solutions and identify opportunities for simplification, standardisation and modernisation.
• Establish and enforce SAP development standards, documentation expectations, support processes and technical direction.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading SAP SD development teams in a structured, governed environment.
• Strong functional knowledge of SAP SD processes (order‑to‑cash, pricing, billing, logistics integration, customer service).
• Technical credibility in SAP development and architecture, with ability to guide solution design and challenge excessive customisation.
• Track record of driving standardisation, simplification and SAP modernisation initiatives.
