Senior Cloud Software Engineer - Efficiency Engineering

About the role

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team builds and manages the foundational blocks of ClickHouse Cloud’s data plane, including compute, networking, security, and a multi‑cloud, multi‑region architecture. As a Senior Cloud Software Engineer you will design, deploy, and maintain a highly available, cost‑efficient infrastructure for our SaaS platform.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build a robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure.
• Build a cutting‑edge cloud‑native platform on top of public clouds and automate resource management.
• Execute high‑impact infrastructure optimization initiatives across compute, storage, and networking.
• Collaborate with ClickHouse engineering teams to develop high‑performance, reliable, and cost‑effective solutions.
• Systematically optimize cost efficiency using distributed systems best practices.
• Partner with business stakeholders to design tooling for cost‑efficiency insights.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building and operating scalable, fault‑tolerant distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go, C/C++, Java, or another OOP language.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience developing cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of network topologies, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, and cloud security best practices (encryption, access controls, SOC2, GDPR).
