Senior Project Engineering Manager - Grid Solutions

About the role

GE Vernova is recruiting a Senior Project Engineering Manager for its Northern European Grid Solutions business, which has offices in the UK, France, Denmark and Norway and a footprint across northern, southern and western Europe. The role is based in Barcelona and follows a hybrid working arrangement. You will act as the technical lead for electrical design and engineering of large energy projects, covering specifications, deviations, clarifications, FATs and SATs.

Key responsibilities

• Define the scope and engineering deliverables with the responsible functions and disciplines.
• Manage the global schedule of engineering activities, check their coherence with procurement, construction and commissioning, and follow up critical activities.
• Plan delivery times for technical interfaces, set up interface sheets with partners, customers and contractors, and deliver designs on time and to quality.
• Support the Project Engineering Director and Project I&I manager on engineering change management for large and complex projects.
• Lead and coordinate design teams supported by primary, secondary and civil designers.
• Follow the engineering budget, identify savings and flag extra costs to the Project Manager.
• Take part in multidisciplinary design reviews, manage scope and design changes and prepare claims and variations for approval.
• Analyse customer technical requirements, track potential changes and validate the design during customer acceptance.
• Manage the status of project documentation and prepare or review technical specifications and supplier documents for procurement.
• Check design effectiveness against contract requirements and look for cost optimisation, especially in basic design.

Required profile

• Engineering degree or equivalent education or experience.
• Experience as a lead engineer in an EPC-type environment.
• Project technical management experience in a multi-disciplinary team with interfaces and products from several countries.
• Knowledge of the transmission or distribution industry is essential.
• Awareness of local regulations and customer practices in the country of operation.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and remote multi-functional teams with clear communication and leadership.
