Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Logging & Monitoring

About the role

Swiss Re is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join its Logging & Monitoring squad in Madrid. You will ensure the reliability, scalability and security of the observability platforms, and build automated solutions that give customers a seamless experience. The squad develops and operates logging, monitoring and alert management platforms so developers and application owners can spot risks early, understand their SLAs and reduce mean time to resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Own end-to-end the design, deployment, operation and continuous improvement of large-scale, multi-cloud solutions.
• Ensure system security, data integrity and high availability across logging and monitoring platforms.
• Develop and improve monitoring, logging and alerting frameworks for proactive issue detection and fast resolution.
• Work with IT and engineering teams to onboard services and advise on SRE best practices.
• Evaluate new solutions that strengthen the observability ecosystem.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and provide hands-on troubleshooting when needed.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Solid background in CI/CD pipelines and system engineering in distributed, cloud-native solutions.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, balancing detail with big-picture thinking.
• Excellent oral and written English; additional languages are a plus.

Required skills

• Hands-on Kubernetes in hybrid cloud environments (Azure and on-premises).
• Open-source observability tools such as LGTM stack, OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing.
• Bonus: Elasticsearch, K6, Faro, Grafana dashboards, Go (and Python, Java.NET or Bash).

What we offer

• Base salary in Spain of EUR 60,000 to EUR 100,000 for a full-time role, depending on profile and requirements.
