Senior Software Platform Integration Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is hiring a Senior Software Platform Integration Engineer in its Aircraft Systems Centre of Competence (CoC), within the Computing Platforms & Multisystems HW/SW Integration group (TADYS2). The role drives the CoC's computing platforms strategy, delivering robust, certifiable, high-performance software for computing platforms and handling HW/SW integration for multi-system architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Elicit and maintain Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) for onboard safety-critical computers, and design, develop and validate software artifacts according to RTCA DO-178C (up to DAL-A).
• Define full software platform architectures, including partitioning, scheduling, resource allocation and integration of third-party software (RTOS BSPs, drivers, middleware).
• Provide common APIs and standardized access to platform support software (RTOS, BSP, low-level I/O, middleware) for other Design and Development Offices.
• Design new embeddable capabilities such as secure mathematical functions, file system services and time/logging services.
• Share responsibility for platform certification, interfacing with certification authorities on DO-178C compliance.
• Perform trade-off analyses, benchmarking and rapid prototyping on reference boards, and evaluate and bring up new multicore target platforms.

Required profile

• Advanced C for real-time embedded systems, with GNU toolchains and compilers (GCC, Clang/LLVM, Diab).
• Strong background in ARM, PowerPC or x86 and SoC architectures, including MMUs, caches and memory hierarchies.
• Expert knowledge of avionics data buses (ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553B, CAN, AFDX, TSN) and peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe, DMA).
• Advanced knowledge of safety-critical RTOS and ARINC-653, with hands-on experience with COTS solutions such as Wind River VxWorks 653, PikeOS, Green Hills Integrity or DEOS.
• In-depth knowledge of RTCA DO-178C and DO-330.
• English at professional negotiation level.
• Preferred: embedded Linux drivers, UML/SysML, static analysis tools (Polyspace, SciTools Understand), PMC counters, and Agile with Jira and Confluence.
