Social Media Strategy Director

About the role

SAMY, a global brand communication agency founded in 2013, is hiring a Social Media Strategy Director in Madrid. The role sits within the Strategy team, reports to the Head of Research & Strategy and acts as the strategic bridge between clients, creative, social, content, community and other specialist teams. It sets a clear strategic direction, identifies opportunities in emerging social behaviours and creator culture, and embeds social thinking in the broader brand and creative agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Lead social strategy for key clients, turning business and brand challenges into clear, actionable social direction.
• Define the social vision and point of view for brands, across platforms, communities, creators and emerging behaviours.
• Lead senior client relationships as a trusted strategic partner, challenging and guiding clients.
• Connect strategy and creativity with Creative, Social, Community, Content and Account teams.
• Stay ahead of new platforms, formats, creators and social codes, and bring that intelligence into the agency.
• Set strategic direction across teams and identify new opportunities for SAMY.
• Mentor and develop social strategy talent within the Strategy team.

Required profile

• Strong experience in social media strategy, ideally within a social-first, creative or digital agency.
• Proven ability to turn business challenges into clear social strategies and creative direction.
• Strong client leadership and communication skills, with experience managing senior stakeholders.
• Experience working with large brands and complex client environments is a plus.
• Fluent English and Spanish.

• Strong cultural and creative instinct, with a clear point of view on what makes brands relevant in social.
• Ability to influence and align multiple stakeholders and specialist teams.
