Software Engineer I, Backend (Collections)

About the role

Affirm is hiring a Software Engineer I, Backend (Collections) to join its Collections team, part of the Repayments area. The team builds a platform that maximizes recovery of delinquent users by sending the right message to the right people at the right time, while monitoring and detecting problems and keeping engineering systems reliable. The role is remote in Spain, with an on-call rotation as a requirement.

Key responsibilities

• Work on tasks that contribute to the team's projects and goals, collaborating with teammates and stakeholders.
• Manage loans throughout the delinquency phase of their lifecycle and develop and implement recovery strategies.
• Build robust collections solutions that keep the loan portfolio healthy and help customers pay on time.
• Balance speed and quality so business goals are met while protecting systems from downtime.
• Take part in on-call rotation and growth and development activities.

Required profile

• Previous work or internship experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin.
• Comfortable navigating a large code base, debugging others' code and giving feedback through code reviews.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
• Visa sponsorship offered, but the candidate must be based in Spain.
