Systems Engineer – MMD HW/SW Specification & Integration

About the role

Join the MIS Development & Maintenance team at Airbus Defence & Space in Getafe, supporting the specification and integration of MMD hardware and software for Eurofighter and Eurodrone projects. You will focus on MALE RPAS‑specific software modules and ensure their seamless integration into the overall system.

Key responsibilities

• Install and administer the Getafe laboratory, including Linux (RHEL) environments, server‑client networks, DNS, DHCP, NFS and security hardening.
• Manage virtualization and container platforms such as VirtualBox, Proxmox, Hyper‑V, Docker and Podman.
• Develop and maintain scripts in Bash, Python or Ruby for automation and testing.
• Integrate multi‑layer software on MMD hardware using REST APIs, WebSockets, OpenAPI and PKI certificates.
• Provide technical leadership to suppliers, ensuring compliance with architectural standards and security policies.
• Support external software development teams as the point of contact for technical discussions, requirement evolution and integration testing.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in IT administration and Linux‑based software integration.
• Strong knowledge of system testing, performance analysis and capacity planning.
• Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
• Proactive, team‑oriented attitude with flexibility and initiative.

Required skills

• RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration.
• Virtualization tools: VirtualBox, Proxmox, Hyper‑V.
• Container technologies: Docker, Podman.
• Scripting languages: Bash, Python, Ruby.
• API integration: REST, WebSockets, OpenAPI.
• PKI, certificate management, PAM, Single Sign‑On and federation.
