Team Leader Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Team Leader Accountant to join the finance team of Kaplan International Languages in Barcelona. Reporting to the Accountant Manager, you will oversee month‑end close, manage the purchase ledger and support forecasting, variance analysis and budgeting across multiple entities.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with business units to ensure completeness of the purchase ledger.
• Lead month‑end closure for assigned entities, including AR reconciliation, deferred revenue and P&L analysis.
• Prepare and post pre‑payment, accrual and depreciation journals.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register and manage utility and residence cost contracts.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and support internal and external audits.
• Provide ad‑hoc financial support to senior team members and external accounting departments.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree with accounting modules.
• At least 5 years of experience in accounts payable, accounting and P&L analysis.
• Previous experience in large‑corporation accounting environments and month‑end processes.
• Strong attention to detail and systematic, organised approach.

Required skills

• Intermediate Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data formatting).
• Strong technical accounting knowledge.
