Wind Systems Validation Engineer (m/f/d)

About the role

The Wind Systems Validation Engineering team is looking for a Validation Engineer to join its team in Barcelona. The role focuses on field testing wind turbines, covering certification, design validation and risk mitigation. You will test prototypes, test turbines and components, and help plan, install and operate measurement systems for wind turbine validation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and run field tests, either yourself or coordinating with third parties, to design, validate and certify onshore and offshore wind turbines.
• Procure test equipment, select vendors and negotiate with them and external institutes.
• Manage contracts with independent test institutes so that high-quality test data and reports arrive on time.
• Travel to global test sites to install, monitor and troubleshoot data systems.
• Report to certification bodies and conduct data analysis, presenting results to internal stakeholders.
• Operate wind turbines in specific modes according to test requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with measurement systems and demonstrated project management ability.
• Ability to work in a global team and to travel to test sites, including climbing wind turbines.
• Analytical mindset, able to investigate issues, summarise information and recommend solutions.
• Excellent English, oral and written.
• Valid class B driving licence.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of wind turbine systems.
• Desired: data analysis and software experience (Python, Matlab, FAMOS); GitHub Copilot is a plus.
• Desired: previous experience in wind turbine design engineering; advanced degree from an accredited institution.
