XPLORER 2027 Continuum Damage Mechanics Internship

About the role

Join Airbus' Advanced Simulation for Rear Fuselage and Empennage (RFE) team in Getafe, Spain for a 6‑month curricular internship (February‑July 2027). You will work on a final‑year project focused on continuum damage mechanics and advanced structural analysis of aircraft components.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new advanced methodologies for structural analysis.
• Create virtual testing simulation capabilities.
• Perform structural justification of real airframe designs (composite and metal).
• Enhance anisotropic constitutive modeling for ductile metallic failure.
• Verify and validate solutions against coupon and component‑level test data.

Required profile

• Final‑year Aerospace Engineering student.
• English proficiency at least B2 (C1 desirable) and Spanish at least B1.
• Basic knowledge of Python and FORTRAN programming.
• Familiarity with finite element simulation tools such as ABAQUS.

Required skills

• Programming in Python, FORTRAN, Matlab.
• FEM modelling and post‑processing.
• Structural analysis and continuum solid mechanics.
