Account Executive, SMB Outbound

About the role

PayPal is hiring an Account Executive for Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) in Madrid. It is a true hunter role: you generate and qualify your own opportunities alongside leads from marketing and partner platforms, win back existing merchants, sell the PayPal proposition consultatively, close and get the merchant live and transacting. The work is fast-paced and high-volume, supported by AI tools for prospecting, research, prioritization and follow-up.

Key responsibilities

• Build your own pipeline: self-source opportunities with AI-assisted prospecting alongside marketing-generated and partner-referred leads, win-backs, and qualify them quickly.
• Prioritize ruthlessly and move the right deals quickly.
• Sell consultatively: understand each merchant's business, diagnose needs, present the PayPal proposition and handle objections.
• Own the deal end to end, close it, and guide the merchant through going live until they start transacting.
• Maintain pipeline hygiene: accurate stages, next steps and forecasts in the CRM.
• Hand closed-won merchants to the Account Management team with full context.
• Build and strengthen relationships with payment service providers, commerce platforms and other partners.

Required profile

• 1+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Fluent Spanish and working English.
• A track record of hitting an individual sales target.
• Nice to have: experience selling payments, fintech, e-commerce or SaaS to small businesses; experience selling through partners; hands-on experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM; prior high-velocity or inside-sales experience.
