Accountant / Buchhalter:in (m/w/d) – SAP & VAT Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a structured and reliable Accountant to own our day‑to‑day accounting operations. Reporting to the Director of Accounting & Finance, you will work in a fast‑growing international SaaS environment, handling bookkeeping, accounts receivable/payable, and VAT filings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage ongoing bookkeeping under German GAAP (HGB) for German and international entities.
• Handle accounts receivable and payable, including invoicing, payments, and collections.
• Support monthly close activities such as accruals, deferrals, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare and file VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, OSS, and other tax filings.
• Assist with year‑end close, tax audits, and coordination with auditors and tax advisors.
• Help optimise and digitise processes within the SAP ERP system.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Legal, Controlling and other cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• Completed commercial apprenticeship plus Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK) certification or a comparable accounting degree.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in the IT/software/cloud sector, preferably international.
• Strong knowledge of German commercial law (HGB) and EU VAT regulations.
• Fluent German and excellent written and spoken English.
• Eligibility to work in Spain.

Required skills

• SAP Business One (SAP ERP) proficiency.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Experience with Google Sheets and related collaboration tools.
• Familiarity with Power BI or similar analytics platforms.
