Asset Digitization SCADA Solutions Engineer

About the role

APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, is looking for an Asset Digitization SCADA Solutions Engineer. You will work on global asset digitization solutions that support operational excellence across terminal environments, developing expertise in Ignition, SCADA and IoT technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Ignition-based SCADA applications, focusing on Perspective, Tag Historian, Alarm Management and SQL connections.
• Integrate COTS IoT platforms such as Node-RED and ChirpStack to capture, process and visualize real-time operational data.
• Build reliable data flows between IoT devices, SCADA systems and databases using MQTT, OPC UA and LoRaWAN.
• Turn product definitions and functional requirements into scalable SCADA products, consulting subject matter experts when standard solutions are unavailable.
• Create and maintain design specifications, development references, configuration templates and deployment guidelines, using version control and company documentation tools.
• Test, debug and optimize SCADA and IoT applications, take part in UAT and SAT, validate results and support users before and after go-live.
• Support product standardization, security requirements, QA activities, Level 2 support and, when needed, software development projects or terminal project roles.

Required profile

• At least five years of experience in technology and/or operations products, projects or programs, preferably in automation and/or transport and logistics, with hands-on exposure to real-time industrial or operating environments.
• Engineering degree or similar.
• Effective communication in English.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder and requirements management skills in multicultural, international teams.

Required skills

• Extensive SCADA experience, especially with Ignition, and strong SQL knowledge including SQL Bridge, queries and triggers; Ignition Core certification preferred or expected within six months.
• Node-RED or ChirpStack, and protocols MQTT, OPC UA and LoRaWAN.
• Python scripting in Ignition, with general PLC knowledge, basic Linux and networking skills, and knowledge of industrial and IoT cybersecurity.
• Java scripting and custom development experience is a plus.
