Autonomous Vehicle Safety Officer

About the role
We are looking for a Safety Driver to join a leading Chinese technology company operating autonomous vehicles in Madrid. The role involves sitting in the driver seat of an autonomous vehicle, monitoring the road, and intervening when necessary to ensure the safety of passengers, pedestrians and the vehicle. This is a full‑time, on‑road position that supports daily testing and guest rides.
Key responsibilities
- Sit in the driver seat during autonomous driving.
- Watch the road and take control immediately if needed.
- Keep passengers, pedestrians and the car safe.
- Perform simple pre‑drive checks (tires, battery, lights).
- Support testing, daily operation and guest rides.
- Report any problems or incidents to the team.
- Keep the vehicle clean and in good condition.
- Follow assigned shifts, overtime and city support requirements.
Required profile
- Ability to take control of the vehicle instantly when required.
- Willingness to perform basic vehicle checks before each trip.
- Commitment to safety as the primary responsibility.
- Readiness to work full‑time, on‑road shifts.
