AVP Operations Specialist - Global Fee & Billing

About the role

DWS Group is hiring an AVP Operations Specialist for its Global Fee & Billing function within Portfolio Services, based in Madrid. The role supports the end-to-end delivery of trailer fees, management fees and billing/invoicing, and contributes to automation, AI-enabled process improvement and data-driven controls while keeping operational risk, auditability and governance in place.

Key responsibilities

• Support end-to-end delivery of fee and billing processes, ensuring timely, accurate and controlled execution.
• Manage daily BAU processes, controls and exception management, including efee calculations, invoice verification and billing oversight.
• Partner with Technology, Finance, Coverage, Custodians and other service providers to resolve operational issues.
• Maintain operational control frameworks: process ownership, documentation, KPI/KRI monitoring, incident management, audit readiness and risk escalation.
• Contribute to the Smart Middle Office agenda by simplifying and standardising workflows and reducing manual intervention.
• Apply AI, automation, workflow tools and data analytics to exception management, predictive controls, reconciliation, vendor oversight and reporting.
• Translate operational pain points into automation or AI use cases with Technology and transformation partners.
• Support readiness for market changes, regulatory developments, new products, migrations and vendor changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience in financial services operations, ideally in Portfolio Services, Middle Office, Investment Operations or related asset management functions.
• Strong understanding of asset management fee and billing activities (management fee, trailer fee, billing, invoicing).
• Hands-on experience with operational event processing, exception management and fee/invoice oversight is highly beneficial.
• Ability to investigate complex issues, perform root-cause analysis and coordinate remediation across teams and service providers.
• Comfortable in a global, matrix environment and able to influence stakeholders.

Required skills

• Experience with investment operations platforms, fee and billing platforms, workflow tools or similar operations technology is a plus.
• Practical data analysis and the ability to turn operational data into controls and management information.
• Practical understanding of AI, automation and data analytics, with proven ability to build use cases responsibly.
• Experience with process automation, workflow design, Python, Power Automate, SQL or data visualisation tools is highly beneficial.
