Backend Engineer

About the role

Wallapop is looking for a Backend Engineer to join its Barcelona team. You will work on micro‑services that power a large‑scale marketplace across Spain, Italy and Portugal, using a DevOps mindset to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services in Kotlin or Java using Spring Boot or Ktor.
• Implement new features following Domain‑Driven Design principles.
• Improve system resiliency and performance on AWS infrastructure.
• Refactor legacy code and ensure high code quality through automated testing.
• Collaborate with product, data and operations teams in a hybrid work environment.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving requirements.
• Experience working in agile, cross‑functional teams.
