Bank Payments & Accounts Receivable Accountant (French Entities)

About the role

We are seeking a Bank Payments & Accounts Receivable Accountant to join our finance team in Bilbao. The position focuses on managing the financial records of French legal entities, ensuring accurate bank reconciliations, timely payments, and effective accounts‑receivable processes while complying with internal policies and French regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bank and corporate credit‑card reconciliations and maintain related accounting records.
• Prepare and execute payment runs, oversee corporate credit‑card issuance and statements, and coordinate access to banking platforms.
• Prepare journal entries, support internal and external audits, and manage ERP data entry.
• Monitor accounts‑receivable ageing weekly, collaborate with the cash collection team, and resolve invoicing, payment, and refund issues.
• Assist with bad‑debt management, write‑offs, and produce weekly reports on banking, payment, and AR matters.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives and cross‑functional system implementations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in financial accounting, bank reconciliations, payment processing, or accounts receivable.
• Experience in an international environment, preferably with French entities.
• Fluent in French and English; good working proficiency in Spanish.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• ERP systems – SAP preferred.
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas).
• Knowledge of IFRS; French GAAP considered a plus.
• Familiarity with Tagetik, OneStream or e‑invoicing platforms.
