Business Transformation & Data Manager (m/f/d)

About the role

Markel Spain is looking for a Business Transformation and Data Manager (m/f/d) based in its Madrid office in the Torre de Cristal. The role leads business transformation, operational excellence, technology-enabled process reengineering and strategic projects across Southern Europe, combining technical expertise with strong operational and business acumen. It bridges Operations, Technology, Data and Business stakeholders and contributes functionally and technically, including data analysis, systems design, automation and technology governance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead business transformation and process excellence initiatives across Southern Europe, identifying operational improvements, automation opportunities and scalable ways of working.
• Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications, supporting system integration, automation, testing and implementation.
• Coordinate strategic projects across Operations and IT, Finance, Underwriting, Claims and European Data teams, ensuring governance, reporting and stakeholder alignment.
• Act as main contact for European Data Engineers and Analysts, supporting scalable data solutions and working with IT colleagues to meet technical standards.
• Assess project proposals, business cases, dependencies, risks and issues, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare executive presentations, decision papers and project updates, and monitor progress, budget, resourcing, third-party contributions and delivery performance.
• Develop KPI frameworks, dashboards and management information for data-driven decisions and executive reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics or a related technical subject; equivalent professional experience with relevant technical certifications is also considered.
• 5-10 years of experience in Business Analysis, Technology or Transformation functions.
• Experience in insurance, financial services or regulated industries.
• Proven experience in complex environments, leading international and cross-country initiatives.
• Exposure to data migration, cloud transformation and enterprise integration projects.
• Fluency in Spanish and English; Italian or Portuguese is an advantage.
• Legal right to live and work in Spain.

Required skills

• Data analysis using SQL, Power BI, Databricks, Excel and Microsoft 365.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving, with collaborative and customer-focused approach.
