Casualty Junior Underwriter (Temporary)

About the role

AIG is hiring a Casualty Junior Underwriter for a temporary position of approximately 6 months, based in Madrid. The role performs underwriting functions in support of underwriters under direct supervision, within the Casualty / Liabilities department, and partners with underwriters on end-to-end processing of new and renewal business.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with underwriters on end-to-end processing of new and renewal business, taking part in all required areas.
• Work closely with underwriters to develop and deliver tailored solutions.
• Help set up, update and bind underwriting systems and support platforms.
• Perform data analytics, prepare and complete referral documentation, and maintain form checklists and working approvals.
• Support AIG tools as a first step in researching renewal accounts, such as claims track record and expiry conditions.
• Support product or endorsement amendments requested by the underwriting team.
• Answer routine questions from brokers, insureds and other department personnel.
• Study and follow up insurance policies in the liabilities portfolio.

Required profile

• Some experience in the insurance industry, in casualty underwriting; an industry-related summer internship is a plus.
• Law or Business Administration degree preferred.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Outgoing and entrepreneurial personality, with good communication and teamwork skills.
• Client focus, problem solving and a humble approach to challenges.
