Cloud Networking & Virtualization Engineer (OVS/DPDK)

About the role

OpenNebula Systems, a European open-source provider of enterprise cloud and data center management software, is hiring a Cloud Networking & Virtualization Engineer to join its European engineering team. The role strengthens the networking and virtualization behind cloud and telco deployments, focusing on Open vSwitch with DPDK, KVM on Red Hat and Ansible automation. It suits someone with hands-on experience who can take ownership of technical work independently.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate, deploy and maintain Open vSwitch with DPDK and KVM-based virtual networking in Red Hat environments
• Configure and validate performance features such as SR-IOV, hugepages and NUMA pinning for demanding workloads
• Maintain and extend one-deploy and its Ansible automation for repeatable infrastructure deployment
• Test OVS/DPDK configurations, investigate performance and document results and improvements
• Troubleshoot incidents across Linux, virtual networking and KVM, finding root causes and implementing preventive measures
• Support Red Hat infrastructure configuration and lifecycle management, including work with Red Hat Satellite
• Work with customers and project teams on deployment, integration and support, with occasional travel to meetings and events
• Write and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, troubleshooting runbooks and project reports

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• Professional experience deploying, testing, troubleshooting or supporting virtual networking and Linux-based virtualization, including complex infrastructure issues
• Experience delivering cloud or virtualization integration projects and working independently with engineering and customer teams; telecom, NFV/NFVI or large private-cloud experience is an advantage
• Fluent English and professional Spanish
• Self-management, clear communication and documentation, and ability to work independently

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with Open vSwitch (OVS) using DPDK
• Hands-on experience with Ansible (playbooks and roles)
• KVM virtualization on Red Hat systems
• Familiarity with SR-IOV, hugepages and NUMA pinning is valuable
• Red Hat Satellite, OpenNebula or one-deploy is an advantage
• Git, CI/CD and remote collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom, GitHub)
