Consultant, Business Transformation - Corporate Finance

About the role

FTI Consulting is a global expert firm for organizations facing crisis and transformation, working with multinational corporations, law firms, banks and private equity firms. Its Business Transformation practice addresses the strategic, operational, financial and capital needs of corporations, boards, private equity sponsors and creditors, covering pre-deal due diligence, post-merger integration, business plan development, restructuring and performance improvement. The Madrid-based consultant joins small and senior teams and works on projects with clients, while also supporting business development.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in project teams and help with ongoing business development
• Model financial and operational scenarios and analyse operations (e.g. OEE assessment, FTE benchmarking)
• Assess company financials, research markets and formulate strategy
• Develop business plans and identify upside/downside potential
• Create improvement plans, plan carve-outs and integrations, and conduct private equity due diligence
• Manage and implement programmes, write presentations and reports, and attend client and internal meetings with frequent travel
• Support junior team members

Required profile

• University degree (or equivalent), preferably numerical, and demonstrable consulting experience
• Project experience in fast-paced environments (performance improvement, turnaround, due diligence)
• Experience delivering results across functions such as performance improvement, operations, financial modelling, business plan review, implementation, programme management, strategy, market assessment and transactions
• Industry experience (consumer goods, retail, pharma, transport and logistics, travel and leisure); complex operations highly preferred
• Fluent Spanish speaker and writer

Required skills

• Excellent consulting skills: hypothesis-driven problem solving, strong verbal and written communication, relationship building, organization and planning
• Excel-based analytic and modelling skills
• Good knowledge of P&L, cash flow and balance sheet
• Preferred: proven ability to produce client-ready PowerPoint decks for senior audiences
