Controls Commissioning Engineer

About the role

Dematic, a global leader in intelligent intralogistics and automated material handling solutions, is looking for a Controls Commissioning Engineer in Spain. This is a hands-on role focused on performing electrical and PLC software commissioning on automated warehouse and material handling systems at customer sites, helping bring complex automation solutions into operation safely, on time and to specification. The position involves international travel.

Key responsibilities

• Complete pre-commissioning (electrical commissioning) of standard Dematic solutions, per discipline
• Take part in pre-commissioning of non-standard or third-party solutions under guidance and supervision
• Take part in designing semi-complex systems that integrate hardware and software, and lead commissioning and design efforts in semi-complex areas with assistance
• Take part in PLC software design, commissioning on site, and software PLC emulation development and testing of semi-complex systems
• Recommend ideas for productivity improvement, cost reduction and better customer satisfaction, and help improve processes for time, cost and quality
• Take part in hotline support, host integration and post-go-live support on site

Required profile

• Studies in Electrical/Controls Engineering
• Experience in a similar role
• Ability to travel to customer sites, domestically and internationally (60-80%)
• Full driver's licence to support the travel requirements of the role

Required skills

• Good understanding of PLC, HMI and SCADA development and commissioning software
• Hands-on experience with electrical commissioning
• Good understanding of electrical and electronic technical manuals and drawings
• Understanding of distributed control systems and automated warehouses desirable but not essential
