Copyrights Specialist

About the role

BMAT Music Innovators is looking for a Copyrights Specialist in Barcelona. The role ensures the integrity of musical asset data and resolves ownership conflicts for publishers, especially on YouTube. It covers end-to-end management of asset copyrights, from verification and data enrichment to conflict resolution in YouTube's CMS, while tracking operational KPIs and supporting ownership transfers.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, review and resolve asset conflicts for publishers on YouTube
• Verify composition ownership and copyright metadata using advanced asset verification techniques
• Perform technical conflict resolution in YouTube's CMS, including ownership share adjustments and removals
• Manage processes through the BMAT conflict resolution platform to improve asset quality and resolution speed
• Analyze conflict data and report on KPIs such as OK/KO rates, root causes and territory trends
• Research major catalogue acquisitions and facilitate ownership transfers for clients
• Escalate findings on "bad actors" and systemic issues on digital platforms to leadership
• First 30 days: learn the role, support the Copyrights team, analyse work-relation errors and take part in conflict reviews; by 60 days coordinate QA, handle advanced CMS conflicts and share conflict trend insights; by 90 days track KPIs, manage ownership transfers and contribute to process improvement

Required profile

• 2+ years of admin and/or copyright experience in the music industry (e.g. documentation or distribution at a CMO, catalog department at a publisher, processing partner)
• Proven experience in copyright management, asset verification and conflict resolution on digital content platforms
• Good understanding of CISAC tools, standards and business rules is a plus
• Excellent English, verbal and written
• Adaptability to a fast-paced environment

Required skills

• Strong spreadsheet proficiency
• Experience with YouTube CMS
• Ability to track and analyze operational KPIs
