Data Engineer

About the role

Bookboost is a hospitality engagement platform that unifies guest data, automates personalised communication and drives revenue and loyalty for hotels. As its data volume grows, it is looking for a Data Engineer to build the infrastructure that moves, transforms and makes guest data available to the frontend application and to machine learning and AI pipelines. The role has real scope: you will design and own the data foundation rather than implement someone else's blueprint.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data pipelines and infrastructure alongside Product and Engineering
• Build data pipelines for ingestion, transformation and storage at high scale, deployed and monitored end to end
• Create tools and abstractions on top of the data infrastructure for analytics, recommendations and machine learning
• Set up data orchestration and streaming pipelines
• Build reusable data resources and design patterns in close collaboration with product teams

Required profile

• 4+ years of data engineering experience, owning production systems rather than just contributing to them
• Strong quantitative skills and experience estimating performance at high scale
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership over the systems and designs you build

Required skills

• Programming and processing, ideally with distributed data processing (AWS, PySpark)
• Familiarity with cloud data services (AWS, RDS) and containerised infrastructure (ECS, Docker)
• Data movement: batch, CDC and streaming transformations
• AI fluency: using AI tools daily for code, documentation and pipeline logic, and building the data infrastructure that powers ML and AI features
