Database Support Engineer – Americas

About the role

Supabase is looking for an experienced Database Support Engineer to join its global Support team. The role focuses on helping developers resolve complex issues across the Supabase platform, improving product quality and developer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve advanced customer issues across PostgreSQL, Auth, RLS, Storage, Realtime, Edge Functions, and client libraries.
• Provide consultative advice to optimise workloads and prevent common pitfalls for advanced users.
• Reproduce bugs, isolate root causes, propose work‑arounds and hand‑off detailed reproductions to engineering.
• Ask targeted questions to turn incomplete reports into actionable cases.
• Communicate clearly and empathetically, especially during high‑impact or time‑sensitive incidents.
• Identify patterns across tickets and recommend improvements to documentation, tooling, and the product.
• Mentor junior team members and raise overall support quality.

Required profile

• 7+ years in technical support, databases, backend engineering, SRE or a related field.
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals such as autovacuum, WAL, long‑running transactions and table bloat.
• Strong SQL performance tuning and query optimisation skills.
• Experience troubleshooting multi‑tenant schemas and complex distributed systems.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud providers, especially AWS.
• Comfortable working in Linux/terminal environments and handling data migrations (pg_dump/restore, schema drift).
