Direct Material Buyer & Supply Chain Quality Specialist

About the role

This position joins a diverse and dynamic Supply Chain team within Procurement, supporting multiple space‑related business lines such as Launchers, Earth Exploration, Space Exploration and Commercial satellites. The role focuses on the procurement and quality management of direct materials, ensuring the best purchasing conditions and supplier performance throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute procurement activities for one or more products, services or suppliers.
• Lead tendering processes, negotiate contracts and secure optimal purchasing terms.
• Monitor contracts during innovation, development, serial production and support phases, ensuring compliance with logistics, quality, cost and delivery requirements.
• Manage day‑to‑day supplier relationships, drive cost‑of‑ownership reduction and mitigate risks.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams throughout tendering, contracting and contract life‑cycle phases.
• Perform supplier performance reviews, implement recovery and improvement plans, and oversee annual Supplier Evaluation Development.
• Identify supplier risks and propose mitigation actions, including short‑term recovery plans.
• Coordinate battery procurement and ensure supplier On‑Quality‑On‑Time (OQOT) performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in direct material procurement and supplier quality management.
• Strong ability to negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance.
• Experience working in cross‑functional, multi‑divisional environments.
