Director of Civil Engineering

About the role

KBR's UABOS Spain unit supports the operational needs of U.S. armed forces at Morón Air Base in Spain and several bases in Turkey, providing program management, civil engineering, morale, welfare and recreation support under a five-year contract. The Director of Civil Engineering manages an assigned operational segment of Engineering, directing, developing, communicating and implementing the company's direction and strategic goals, while contributing to business development and marketing internally and externally.

Key responsibilities

• Study, design, specification and services of transportation systems (road, rail, airport, seaport), bridges, infrastructure, drainage, underground utilities, hydrology/hydraulics, water treatment and distribution, wastewater, water resources, tunnels, geotechnical design and other civil engineering works.
• Supervise and lead a group of engineers under broad direction, set technical standards and procedures, and take part in performance appraisals, counseling, hiring and assignment of personnel.
• Provide training to maintain a proficient workforce and ensure compliance with civil engineering-related inspections, including USAFE/AFIA MICT self-inspections, Unit Effectiveness Inspections, EMS audits, internal self-inspections and Staff Assistance Visits.
• Contribute to business development, identify market trends and applications of existing and new technologies, and establish operational goals and objectives.
• Prepare data for annual USAFE Civil Engineering awards, Installation Excellence awards and other award submissions.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and U.S. Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture from an ABET-accredited institution or approved equivalent; Master's degree preferred.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA).
• DoD installation-level working experience.
• 10 years of industry experience (5 in supervision) in engineering design, construction, maintenance, repair, operation of major real property facilities, facilities programming and planning, and civil engineering plans and programs.
