Early Years Teaching Assistant

About the role

Cognita, a global network of independent schools, is recruiting an experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant for its school in Meres, Asturias. The role supports children aged 1 to 5 in a nurturing and stimulating environment, working closely with teachers, the Early Years Coordinator and parents. It is a temporary, full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Help promote each child's learning, development and wellbeing so they feel valued, confident and supported.
• Assist in delivering engaging learning activities and support pupils' individual needs, including those with SEND.
• Encourage independence and positive relationships, and contribute to a safe, inclusive classroom.
• Support educational visits, maintain strong parent partnerships, and contribute to assessments and progress reviews.
• Help children develop the skills, confidence and curiosity needed to thrive.

Required profile

• Degree in Early Years, Education, Languages or a related subject.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar Early Years setting.
• Native English speaker with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Patience, empathy and a nurturing approach, able to support children of varying ages, abilities and learning needs.
