Engineer - T&D Overhead Transmission Lines

About the role

AECOM is looking for an experienced Engineer for T&D Overhead Transmission Lines to support the delivery of overhead transmission line projects worldwide. The role contributes to the design, analysis and execution of transmission line engineering and works closely with senior technical leadership on complex infrastructure projects supporting the global energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Develop engineering designs for HV/EHV overhead transmission lines, including route alignments, tower spotting studies and line profiles
• Select conductors, earth wires and insulators, verify electrical clearances and right-of-way requirements, and maintain PLS-CADD models
• Perform sag-tension, conductor blowout, clearance, thermal ampacity, corona, shielding and lightning studies, load tree generation and tower loading analysis (typically with PLS-CADD, TOWER or PLS-POLE)
• Prepare drawings, calculations, reports and design documentation, and take part in design reviews and quality assurance
• Support client and project team discussions, and assist during construction and commissioning, including site queries and design clarifications

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering
• Typically 5+ years of experience in overhead transmission line engineering
• Proven experience on HV/EHV projects (110kV - 400kV+)
• High level of written and spoken English

Required skills

• Strong practical knowledge of PLS-CADD and experience with TOWER
• Ability to prepare transmission line calculations and engineering deliverables
• Preferred: PLS-POLE, underground cable projects, CYMCAP, IEC/IEEE/EN standards, international projects
