Faculty Member - Introduction to Programming (CSCI 1110/1111)

About the role

Verto, a provider of experiential first-year programs, is hiring a faculty member in Seville to teach CSCI 1110/1111 Introduction to Programming. The role is on-site and seasonal, combining active classroom learning with community-based experiential education. Verto's academic team provides ongoing training, feedback and coaching.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver courses using the provided syllabi, Canvas (LMS), online textbooks and timelines, while adhering to local and global faculty and course requirements.
• Evaluate homework, give regular formative feedback, assess student mastery of course objectives and learning outcomes, and calculate and submit grades on time through Canvas and Banner.
• Host weekly office hours, respond to student inquiries promptly, and refer students to learning support services.
• Enforce attendance and academic integrity policies, and address grading questions and appeals with students.
• Take part in faculty training (up to 10 hours per semester for new faculty, plus 5 hours of ongoing development), faculty meetings, and curriculum development and assessment projects.
• Maintain accurate academic records and foster inclusive, learner-centred classrooms.

Required profile

• Master's degree required; terminal degree (PhD) in English Language or a closely related field preferred.
• At least 18 graduate credits in the field of study relevant to the course.
• At least two years of teaching experience in English, including at least one year at university level.
• Proven success with diverse students and openness to feedback and continuous improvement.
• Legal right to work in the country for the full program duration.
