Gameplay Designer

About the role

We are seeking a Gameplay Designer to join our Barcelona studio and help shape hero and combat gameplay for Overwatch Rush, a new top‑down hero shooter built for mobile. You will translate the iconic Overwatch hero experience into a tight, readable, and performant mobile experience while preserving the series’ depth and polish.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and implement playable heroes and core combat mechanics that are fun, readable, and aligned with the game’s vision.
• Adapt hero kits to a top‑down camera and mobile controls, ensuring strong skill floors and satisfying mastery curves.
• Work hands‑on with engineers to implement gameplay systems while respecting mobile performance and memory constraints.
• Maintain clear design documentation to support implementation and rapid iteration.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, UI/UX, VFX, audio, and animation teams to balance, polish, and ship hero kits.
• Participate in tuning and balancing to ensure fairness and fun across all player skill levels.
• Analyze playtest results, qualitative feedback, and live data to refine hero kits and progression.
• Stay current with mobile best practices and hero‑based combat design trends.

Required profile

• Professional experience on combat‑focused games and playable characters, with solid understanding of 3Cs, skill floor vs. ceiling, progression, and rewards.
• Strong design instincts for player motivation, accessibility, and depth.
• Technical fluency with game engines, gameplay tools, and scripting or visual‑scripting systems.
• Ability to identify key problems, iterate quickly, and improve designs through playtesting.
• Clear communicator and collaborative team player comfortable with multidisciplinary teams.
