Global Head of FX Forwards

About the role

The Global Head of FX Forwards will lead the strategic development and growth of Santander’s worldwide FX Forwards business. Based in Spain, this senior position reports to the head of Corporate & Investment Banking and is responsible for driving commercial performance across client segments while optimizing balance‑sheet usage.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the global growth strategy for the FX Forwards franchise.
• Drive revenue growth through efficient balance‑sheet deployment and client expansion across geographies.
• Lead the commercial positioning of FX Forwards solutions across the bank’s franchise.
• Partner with Trading, Sales, Treasury, Risk and XVA teams to optimise funding, liquidity and capital usage.
• Strengthen Santander’s market positioning in FX and short‑term interest rate (STIR) products.
• Develop and mentor high‑performing global teams, fostering a collaborative culture.
• Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure robust governance, risk management and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 7–8 years of experience in a tier‑one banking institution.
• Proven leadership experience managing global teams.
• Strategic vision with a strong commercial mindset.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with trading, sales, treasury, risk and XVA functions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Deep technical knowledge of FX and STIR products.
