Global Risk & Insurance Intern, Treasury (FUO Scholarship)

About the role

IFF is looking for a motivated Insurance & Risk Intern to join its small Global Risk & Insurance team in Oviedo, Asturias. The role gives exposure to corporate insurance programmes, risk financing strategies and operational risk processes in a multinational environment. It is an onsite position in the offices of El Vasco with parking available.

The internship runs for 6-12 months, possibly with a path to a permanent role, and follows the FUO scholarship programme: hybrid format (3 days on site, 2 days remote), flexible hours between 8:00-10:00 a.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m., and a monthly allowance of €800 gross. The intern reports to the Director, Risk & Insurance.

Key responsibilities

• Insurance program support: help with annual renewals (property, casualty, D&O, cyber, cargo), collect and validate data for underwriting submissions, review policies, schedules and endorsements, track certificates of insurance and premium invoices.
• Risk management: maintain risk registers, support the Enterprise Risk Management platform, analyse exposure data and contribute to risk assessments and scenario analysis.
• Data and reporting: prepare reports and dashboards in Excel and PowerPoint, assist with claims tracking and loss analysis, and support benchmarking and market research.
• Process and systems: work with contract and insurer/broker platforms, keep insurance documentation accurate and accessible, and help document internal procedures.

Required profile

• Student at the University of Oviedo who has graduated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree within the last 4 years.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Economics, Law, Business or a related field.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, good attention to detail, and excellent written and spoken English.
• Well organised, comfortable with large datasets and confidential information, and curious and proactive.
• Nice to have: basic understanding of insurance principles, exposure to corporate finance, legal or risk environments, and familiarity with Power BI or Tableau.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables and data analysis preferred)
• Good working knowledge of PowerPoint for business presentations
