Head Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Head Accountant to lead the accounting function of a fast‑growing international automotive company operating in Spain. The role will oversee all financial reporting, tax compliance, audit coordination and treasury activities for our European entities while ensuring strict adherence to Spanish GAAP, IFRS and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead accounting and bookkeeping activities for EU entities.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with Spanish GAAP and IFRS.
• Manage tax filings and liaise with external auditors and tax authorities.
• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support treasury and cash‑flow management.
• Participate in budgeting, forecasting and cost‑control initiatives.
• Strengthen internal controls and financial governance.
• Provide financial reporting and insights to regional management and headquarters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of accounting experience in multinational environments, preferably in the automotive, manufacturing or industrial sector.
• Strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP and IFRS.
• Proven experience with tax compliance and statutory audits.
• CPA, ACCA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Fluent in Spanish and English.
