Head of Production Quality - Space Systems, Getafe

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Head of Production Quality for its Space Systems plant in Getafe, Madrid. The role leads a team of around 25 people covering Quality Assurance, Quality Inspection and Quality Conformity, manages an annual budget of €3.5M and sits on the plant management committee. It is a permanent position reporting functionally to the Head of Space Systems Production Quality and operationally to the Head of the Space Plant.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the team, set clear objectives and harmonize best practices across all Space Systems plants.
• Manage the annual budget, prepare the S&OP and the Production Quality budget, and draft executive summaries and KPIs.
• Act as the main focal point for Production Quality across business areas and stakeholders.
• Hold direct responsibility for deliveries to internal customers (UK, France, Germany) and external customers (Avio, Mitsubishi, SpaceX, ArianeGroup, etc.).
• Promote a preventive quality culture and implement processes such as non-conformance management, root cause analysis, PPS, NRB and quality authorizations.
• Maintain quality documentation (Quality Assurance Plan, control plans, inspection reports) and ensure product certification and compliance through measurements.
• Reduce quality costs through inspection optimization and sampling strategies, and manage the NDT team.
• Ensure receiving inspections, support internal and external audits (e.g. EN 9100) and drive quality under the Space Transformation Plan.

Required profile

• University degree in Engineering or related technical disciplines (Physics, Chemistry, etc.).
• Previous experience in a Quality department or close collaboration with Quality teams.
• Minimum 2 years of prior experience in team management.
• Full professional proficiency in Spanish and English.
