Head of Secondary School & Sixth Form

About the role

The Head of Secondary and Sixth Form joins the Senior Management Team to shape the strategic vision and development of the school. This role oversees policy review, ensures student wellbeing and safety, and drives academic excellence across secondary education.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all secondary MLT members, maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and achievement.
• Commission and monitor baseline testing, analyse examination results and oversee target setting and performance tracking.
• Manage curriculum planning, academic timetabling, subject choices and class allocations.
• Chair MLT meetings, contribute to inspection preparation and lead the school’s response to inspections.
• Oversee annual budgets for academic departments and advise on teaching facilities.
• Develop and implement an academic curriculum development plan, staying abreast of national curriculum changes.

Required profile

• Successful experience in teaching and leadership within a UK or international school.
• Fully qualified teacher with further qualifications and a record of professional development.
• Strong management, communication and collaborative skills, able to lead and monitor a team of teachers.
• Ability to identify strategic priorities and design tactics to achieve them.
