HSE Manager

About the role

The HSE Manager leads a team of quality, safety, environmental and energy management professionals and reports to the Integrated Quality Systems Manager, who works with the Site Director and cross-functional teams. The role ensures compliance with IRIS 22163, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001, and with other requirements such as EEM (European Entity in Charge of Maintenance).

Key responsibilities

• Manage the integrated management system, conduct regular audits and lead the internal audit program, keeping documentation and reports up to date.
• Represent the company during certification and surveillance audits and coordinate the Management Review and business plan.
• Oversee the IRIS 22163 rail industry standard and ensure rail processes meet its quality and safety requirements.
• Develop and run occupational health and safety policies, risk assessments and a safety culture, investigate incidents and near misses, and prepare emergency response plans and drills.
• Implement environmental policies and energy management programs, set energy performance indicators and liaise with the Production, Sustainability and Energy Manager.
• Ensure compliance with local, national and international regulations and work with regulators, certification agencies and external auditors.
• Drive continuous improvement through KPIs, root cause analysis and CAPA, and take part in the annual customer survey.
• Design and deliver health and safety awareness training and ensure locally mandated training is provided.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, environmental science or a related field; master's in occupational health and safety, energy management or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in quality, health and safety, environmental or energy management.
• Fluent Spanish and fluent English.
• Availability for frequent regulatory assessments in plant and field services in the Barcelona, Valencia, Seville and Madrid areas.

• Quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO IRIS 22163) and EHS systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001)
• Integrated management systems and internal/external auditing
• Problem solving (FTA, 8D, RCA) and risk assessment methods
• APQP project management; EEM knowledge is a plus
• Office suite, Excel and PowerPoint
