Human Factors Engineering and Flight Deck Specialist

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Human Factors Engineering and Flight Deck Specialist in Getafe. The role covers the holistic design of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) for military air platform workstations such as cockpits, flight decks, mission consoles and ground control stations, aiming for the best interface between people and their activities through sound technology, user interface principles and design and validation methods.

Key responsibilities

• Design workstations (cockpits, flight decks, mission consoles and ground control stations), defining geometry, layout and furnishings
• Design HMIs and multimodal interactions, including control units, indicators, displays and graphical user interfaces
• Apply the full HFE process across the product life cycle, from early concept analysis to entry into service
• Carry out mission analysis, task analysis, ergonomic analysis, workload analysis and human error analysis
• Prototype HMIs in hardware and software, using virtual models, simulations and physical mock-ups
• Run user-centred design reviews, demonstrations, validation and testing
• Contribute to the qualification and certification of systems

Required profile

• Application of Human Factors Engineering to deliver user-centred workstation design
• Knowledge of classical ergonomics (visibility, reachability, physical usability, ingress and egress)
• Knowledge of cognitive ergonomics (operator workload, usability, situational awareness, human error)
• Awareness of compliance risks and a commitment to integrity
