Intern, Restructuring, Corporate Finance

About the role

FTI Consulting, a global expert firm for organizations facing crisis and transformation, offers a full-time 6-month internship in its Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment in Madrid. The internship is based in the Corporate Finance team, working alongside experienced professionals on complex restructuring situations. There is a possibility to extend the internship or hire as an Analyst depending on performance and cultural fit.

Key responsibilities

• Apply business, accounting, finance and analytical skills to client situations, such as financial modelling, ratio and comparable company analysis, review of financial statements and projections, business plan assessment, capital structure analysis and liquidity forecasts.
• Support the development of financial models and analyses.
• Draft client presentations and assist in developing pitch books and other marketing materials.
• Research public and private companies and industries.
• Analyse balance sheets and P&Ls for debtors, creditors and shareholders of companies facing liquidity problems.
• Support the team across financings, operational and financial restructuring, business reviews, M&A and divestments.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or in the final year of an undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance, graduating before June 2027.
• Availability to work 40 hours per week for the full duration and to travel to clients and offices.
• Available to start in October 2026.
• Preferred: previous experience in corporate finance or restructuring, outstanding academic record, fluency in English and Spanish (other languages are an asset).

Required skills

• Technical and analytical skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Interest in corporate finance, accounting and financial modelling.
• Organised, detail-oriented, proactive, with strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Familiarity with internet-based financial research resources is preferred.
